COVID vaccine being distributed locally

MOHAVE COUNTY – Department of Public Health Director Denise Burley conducted a Thursday press conference aiming to clarify conflicting information about local administration of COVID-19 vaccine.
“We’re working with over 20 providers throughout the county to ensure the equitable and timely delivery of vaccines to individuals meeting the eligibility requirements of the current phase,” Burely said. “Mohave County will be receiving 3,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine next week. 2,000 of those doses would be considered second doses based on our allocation for the week of Dec. 27, and then 1,000 of those doses would be first doses.”
Burley said vaccines are also recommended for those who’ve tested positive and recovered to prevent a second bout with COVID-19. “We have seen people get sick again,” she said.
Burley said a mish mash of information provided by multiple sources has prompted public confusion about how the vaccine rollout is being conducted. Assistant Director Melissa Palmer said the Health Department is trying to update information about vaccine providers and eligibility phases and timetables.
Palmer said the information can be found by going to the www.mohavecounty.us website before scrolling down to find the CORONAVIRUS link at mid page. She said a click leads you to the hub where information seekers subsequently click on the VACCINE tab to pursue information.
