Plea deal proposed for alleged meth dealer

KINGMAN – An 8-year prison term is mandated in a plea agreement proposed for a Pocatello, Idaho man arrested during a traffic stop in Chloride last June. Authorities seized 2.5 pounds of methamphetamine, seven ounces of heroin, more than $17,000 in cash and a weapon.
49-year-old Steven Shaffer pleaded guilty Feb. 11 to a possession of dangerous drugs charge.
An identical plea proposal was previously rejected by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle as being too lenient. The same deal has now been proposed to Judge Doug Camacho who will consider accepting or rejecting it during a March 24 sentencing hearing.
