Red Cross responding to winder storm crisis

Share

The winter storms that have swept across different areas of the country have caused power outages, water shortages, shelters to be opened and blood drive cancellations leaving blood donations uncollected.  The American Red Cross has been asked by emergency response agencies to provide support.  For safety reasons, a lot of our work is being done virtually (from remote locations, using technology).  Our Region will be providing volunteers to assist the disaster response caused by the winter storms (mostly virtually).

Severe winter weather conditions across the U.S. have forced the cancellation of blood drives in approximately 30 states, impacting nearly 15,000 blood, platelet, and convalescent plasma donations this month.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

We need healthy individuals, especially those with type 0 blood, to give now.  To schedule your appointment and for more information on giving blood, please visit www.RedCrossBlood.org. Text RedCross to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
