LAKE HAVASU CITY – An elderly Lake Havasu City man busted in a child pornography case apologized before he was sent to the Arizona Department of Corrections Monday, April 12.

“I’m so sorry I did this,” John Graves, 69, told Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle. “I’ve done wrong and I regret it.”

The Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children task force notified local police last May that child pornography files had been uploaded at Graves’ home in the 3200 block of Aztec Drive. Graves initially denied any involvement with child pornography before he subsequently told investigators that he inadvertently stumbled upon images by accidental internet icon clicking.

The police report said a study of Graves’ electronic devices revealed that the majority of 21,355 image files and 758 video files involved child pornography. Graves expressed some bewilderment by his actions, informing the Court that he lacks testosterone in his system and hasn’t had sex drive for a decade.

Graves pleaded guilty to two criminal counts reduced to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor. Judge Carlisle ordered an 8.5-year prison term followed by lifetime probation.
