KINGMAN – Dig-It Kingman Community Garden is seeking information regarding damage to the garden on April 13. The time of the damage is unknown. No garden members witnessed the vandalism and extensive damage had occurred during the time.
Denise Neath the children’s garden manager and event planner said, “It appears that a vehicle like an ATV lost control turning a curve in the desert behind the garden and crashed into the fence.” She explained that the incident was not reported at the time and that she hopes the person(s) responsible will come forward or that anyone in the community will report the incident and any names of the individuals involved in the collision.
Neath stated that the chain link fence post was damaged along with the chain link fencing. Inside the garden the wooden picket fence was also damaged. Further damage included a flowerpot in the children’s garden. The flower pot had just been planted in during the last meeting with youth participating in the children’s garden program.
The community garden is volunteer based and is asking the community for help in repairing the damaged areas of fence. Dig-It is requesting that anyone with knowledge of chain-link fixing or has fencing materials required to repair the damaged fence please contact the garden. If you would like to report any information or you are willing to aid in donations or labor with repairing the fence and garden area please contact Dig-It Kingman Community Garden at 928-715-1165 or go to their website https://www.digitkingmancommunitygardens.org/ for further contact information or general information about community gardening projects and events.
