KINGMAN – Cars, classic and modern, lined almost every parking slot between Fourth and Sixth streets Saturday for the second Chillin’ on Beale gathering of 2021. About 200 vehicles show up

Chillin’ takes place the third Saturday of each month through November and has a different theme each month. An average of 200 vehicles show up as the owners kick back on lawn chairs and watch as the public ogles over the motorized machinery. Live music adds a soundtrack, and many local downtown businesses are packed to the door.

May’s theme was ‘Tribute to Veterans and Military’ in honor of Armed Forces Day which also fell on Saturday. Owners of some classic military vehicles set up “camp” at the corner of Fourth and Beale along with displays of military vehicles, weapons and other memorabilia. The hundreds of car owners and spectators were nearly silent as the National Anthem was played.

To enter a car, pull up and grab a spot. The event starts between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. depending on the time of year and runs until about 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Gene Kirkham at 714-488-1843 or go to The Original Chillin’ on Beale Street Facebook page.
