LGBT Pride Picnic at Cecil Davis Park

Share

KINGMAN – A large gathering was muted in lieu of a calm family day to represent LGBT Pride Saturday.

More than 50 adults and children set up camp at Cecil Davis Park to mingle, dance and relax at the Mohave Pride Picnic in the Park. The Splash Pad offered the perfect opportunity for friends and families to cool off during the triple-digit temperature day. The park was chosen for the location because of the Splash Pad.

“It wasn’t really an event we were planning on being huge,” said picnic attendee Gideon Freeman. “Nor was there a park fee or set up. Just a simple nice day at the park.”

The first LGBT Pride festival was held at Metcalf Park in 2019 and attracted more than 3,000 people from throughout the county and even Las Vegas. A 2020 Pride event was nixed due to COVID-19. The LGBT community has not had the opportunity to socialize much due to the pandemic. Cecil Davis Park provided a mellow environment for that demographic to socialize.

The picnic was organized by members and friends of Mohave Pride. For more information visit the Mohave Pride Facebook page.
