Dear Editor,
Interesting letters from Mr. Mike Nelson and Mr. Butch Meriwether in the Sept. 4, edition of The Standard.
I do have a question for you to consider.
Mr. Nelson: Do you realize fossil fuels exist in a finite quantity? What do you suppose future generations will use instead, when fossil fuels are exhausted?
And Mr. Meriwether: You say, “I myself would rather drive on my quad to the location where the bugs or flowers are so I could take a picture of them.” Where would you go to take a picture of a passenger pigeon? I understand the last one died on Sept. 1, 1914, its remains are stuffed and on display in some museum, because they were hunted to EXTINCTION. I assume no one cared about annihilation of an entire species back then.
I am aware an ultra-conservative newspaper is probably not interested in questioning loyal readers who write letters that perpetuate the “fake news” so prevalent in the media today.
I also realize this letter will probably never see print in said newspaper.
