Every month, it takes about 1,250 blood donors to save the lives of kids in Arizona’s two largest children’s hospitals.

Blood donors save kids like 5-year-old Nathan who has required more than 80 blood transfusions. The Arizona toddler was born with a rare disorder that causes his red blood cells to rapidly break apart. Every month, he relies on the generosity of strangers to donate lifesaving blood – a need that is expected to continue the rest of his life. “To all the donors out there, I would like to say that you have gone above and beyond to save my son’s life and the lives of others,” expressed his mother April.  “Without blood transfusions, I would have lost my little boy!”
