LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu City has begun using top quality wastewater from the plant on the Island to irrigate a popular greenbelt.

“The London Bridge Beach is now being irrigated with treated effluent,” City Manager Jess Knudson told city council members July 28. “The plant provides high quality, class-A-plus reclaimed water by. By using that for irrigation we save potable water and the city saves money.”

Knudson said that the city contractor, Fort Mohave-based Premier Backhoe, Inc. completed the $458,000 project under budget and 38 days ahead of a 120-day schedule.

“The project involved installing over 4,200 feet of 6-inch PVC, pruple pipe from the Island wastewater treatment plant to London Bridge Beach,” Knudson said. He said there are valve outlets along the way that can be used to water other landscaping in the future.
