Please observe back-to-school safety

BULLHEAD CITY – It’s “back-to-school” next week for Bullhead City students, and the Bullhead City Police Department would like to start off the in-person school year safely.
Children will be excited getting to and from school while using the intersections and crosswalks, so drivers should watch the road carefully for pedestrians and kids on bicycles. Officers will be out enforcing the 15 mile per hour school zone speed limit.
Parents should also talk to their children about the rules of the road. Pedestrians walk against traffic and bicyclists ride with the traffic. For safety reasons, it’s important to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle and children should lock up their bikes when they arrive at school. In case children get on the wrong school bus, it’s a good idea to teach them their phone number, address and parents’ names. Parents may also want to practice walking with their children to school or to their bus stop so they are familiar with the route and the safe intersections to cross.
Motorists need to be patient when following school buses and remember, vehicles traveling in both directions must stop for school buses that display flashing lights and an extended stop sign.
