CASA creates Winter Wonderland for foster families

Share

Every Year Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) puts on several Festive Holiday events for foster children and their foster parents or kinship who are located in Mohave County, to have a safe place to come and enjoy the season. Typically it is housed at a local school auditorium where there are arts and crafts, games, food, fun and a visit to Santa. But this year due to COVID-19 the event had to either be cancelled or reinvented. It was unanimous that Christmas for these children cannot be cancelled! CASA Board members and the Department of Child Services (DCS) changed the format to a ‘drive through’ holiday event for this year where social distancing and mandated  mask wearing kept the event safe from any spread of a virus.

Winter Wonderland in Kingman was a success!! There were 98 children that participated in our “Drive Through”. It was wonderful seeing their smiling faces and excitement as they received their gifts, books, hats, scarf’s, gloves, blankets, pajamas and goodies!! CASA extends a big thanks to the board members and DCS for helping to make this eventa success for the children and their families.
