Morning Kiwanis sponsor summer swim lessons

BULLHEAD CITY –Thanks to a sponsorship partnership with the Bullhead City Morning Kiwanis Club, the City of Bullhead City Parks and Recreation will once again be offering free beginner swim lessons for children this summer.
“Being able to swim is a life skill that often gets overlooked” says Kara Kaplan, the City of Bullhead City Parks and Recreation Supervisor. “Thanks to the generous support of the Bullhead City Morning Kiwanis Club we are able to give children and parents in our community basic education and skills to enjoy the water safely.”

Lessons will be held at the Bullhead City Municipal Pool, located at 2255 Trane Road. Lesson times will be Monday through Thursday at 9 a.m., 9:35 a.m., 10:10 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:05 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. and new this year will have one Saturday morning session. The two-week sessions will begin June 9 and continue through July 29 and the Saturday Session will run June 5 until July 31.
Ann White of Bullhead City says, “My son had a complete blast in the Parent Tot class and it was also extremely informative to me as a parent. We can’t wait to sign up this year!”

Registration for Session 1 and the Saturday Session will open May 24 and will be available online from the main page of www.bullheadcity.com and clicking on Recreation Reservations.
Each session consists of 8 lessons. Swimmer’s advance based on experience and class level.

Jenna Bell of Bullhead City, says her daughter, “Sofia was always very scared about going underwater and her instructors were able to get her to do that and so much more. They know what they are doing and I definitely can’t wait to get her back in the water this summer!”
Level 3, level 4 and level 5 are $20 per session. Free sessions for Parent and Tot, Level 1 and Level 2 are all made possible through the Kiwanis Club sponsorship. Last summer, the Kiwanis Club of Bullhead City, Morning, Community Service Foundation wrote a check for $10,940 to pay for 547 free lessons. Over the course of their 19 year sponsorship of the program, the Club has invested $143,786 to provide lessons for 7,164 area youth.
