Trail construction progress slowed

MOHAVE COUNTY – The pandemic-slowed construction of a recreation trail on the Arizona side of the Colorado River nears completion. The Colorado River Heritage Trail between Davis Dam and the Laughlin Bridge on the Nevada side of the river opened nine years ago.
Bullhead City manager Toby Cotter said substantial progress is evident on the Arizona side of the river where trail development began in Nov., 2019.
“You’ll notice the path is almost completed. It’s paved and bridges are in over washes,” Cotter told city council members May 4. “The recreational amenity will provide a loop from the Dam to the bridge on both sides of the river. We’re getting very close to start talking about a ribbon cutting and the grand opening of that trail.”
Cotter noted that Nevada provided matching money for the more than $6-million grant funded community betterment project. “Partnerships that we have and that we’ve been able to cultivate over the years are phenomenal,” Cotter said.
