A Bullhead City man involved in a scarp with his mother was jailed for first degree murder for the Thursday stabbing death of his father-in-law. Police responded to an aggravated assault report at 2:00 p.m. in the 900 block of Seafair Drive.
Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said the suspect, John James, 46, fled the scene before officers arrived.
“John James’ mother told police she had gotten into an argument with her son, and he pushed her to the ground,” Fromelt said. “She reported that she called her husband, 65-year-old Gabriel Toledano, to help her up and James started attacking him with a knife.”
Toledano was dead at the scene.
The mother told police that James lived with her and Toledano and that he suffered mental illness. James was arrested when he returned to the residence about 8:30 p.m.
