KINGMAN – The City of Kingman opened its public swim facilities at Centennial Park and the Grandview Avenue location downtown on Monday. Some COVID-19 restrictions will remain in place, but pool patrons will be afforded greater liberty this summer.

“We are more fully open this season whereas last season we had some pretty dramatic restrictions,” said Recreation Coordinator Ryan Fruhwirth. He said there will be greater freedom of movement at the pool facilities but that some social distance and sanitization protocols will remain in place for public safety.

The Splash-pad at Cecil Davis Park opened May 1 and Fruhwirth said strong early registration for recreation programs appears to be meaningful.

“We are seeing much higher registration numbers much earlier than previous years. We are going to be sold out for most of our youth and adult sports programs for the spring,” he said. “I really do believe that parents are committed to going back to normal. The kiddos are looking for things to do and wanting to be outdoors more. I believe there’s some sense of “we’re ready to get back to life as usual.”
