BULLHEAD CITY – A woman who has publicly alleged that Dr. Waheed Zehri sexually harassed her has initiated a campaign to recall him from the Bullhead City Council. Vanessa Martinez announced the ouster effort during the Aug. 10 council meeting.

“Yesterday I pulled the papers to recall Dr. Zehri,” Martinez said. “I’m here today to make the public aware that we need to collect 1,402 signatures.”

That’s the minimum number of valid signatures that must be submitted by Nov. 29 to advance the recall. Zehri would then have a chance to step down or otherwise face possible recall in a special election.

Dr. Zehri has many times refuted allegations leveled by Martinez and other women and claimed his innocence. A sexual harassment claim that could lead to lawsuit has also been lodged with Zehri.
