Fire District split in consideration

Share

KINGMAN – A group of concerned citizens want to split away from the sprawling Northern Arizona Fire District (NAFD) and form their own locally controlled district to provide better service to the communities of Valle Vista, Hackberry, and Truxton. They’ve taken initial steps in pursuit of their goal.

“I’m a proponent of the proposed Valle Vista, Hackberry, and Truxton Fire District north of Kingman along Route 66,” Nancy Moschcau told Mohave County Supervisors Monday. “We want all to be safe and secure in the community in which they live. It’s time to take our fire station back to provide the emergency services that all residents deserve.”

Ray Ricciardi said Valle Vista has grown from 200 to more than 1,000 homes over the last 30 years and that service from NAFD is inadequate.

“The fire department has not kept up with needs of the community,” Ricciardi said. He said advocates believe creation of a local fire district will promote public safety and quality of life.

Impacted property owners will be formally notified of the District split proposal. The matter will next be considered at the Sept. 20 Board of Supervisors meeting in Kingman.

my concern, is that the same people, that were former fire district employees, now want to (again) be in charge of a new fire district, is it really out of concern? or is it financially motivated?

Please don’t be concerned. The motivation for this is better quality of life, safety and security to the many citizens who are being underserved. We had a successful department before take over and we will have a successful one again. Serving the taxpayers.

dear concerned, have you checked your mohave county real estate tax bill lately, taxation without serves provided is a crime. Then again you are probably a renter that doesn’t have to pay rent because our government says you are forgiven. Yes, apprx 27% goes to the Fire dept. district, and that’s what we all pay in Mohave county each year…

Ray, as your neighbor, Valle Vista resident, and ‘property owner’ in Valle Vista. Who additionally has nearly 30 years experience in public safety. I have to say, that is one of the most condescending, arrogant, and holier-than-thou answers to a citizens genuine concern that I have had the misfortune of reading in a very long time. As someone who is evidently bucking for a position within this new district, your response is shameful! It is also very revealing to see that you may respond to your constituent’s concerns in like manner.

I know you’ve put a lot of work into this, however, you need to be mindful that “the people” deserve a more thought out response.
