KINGMAN – A young Bullhead City woman is the second person to enter a plea agreement in a gruesome double homicide in the rural community of Dolan Springs. Tyler Reed, 20, pleaded guilty Friday to charges associated with the murders last Sept. of Robin Hammontree, 61, and her boyfriend Bryan Drake, 57.

Prosecutor Phillip Delgado said Reed and Johnny Parsons, 21, Kingman, accompanied Dustyn Walsh, 20, Golden Valley, knowing that Walsh intended violence where his grandmother resided with Drake at 8182 N Palo Verde Dr. Authorities have said that Walsh was upset that Drake had been acquitted at trial in 2019 for allegedly molesting his young sister in 2012.

Walsh is serving a 43.5-year prison term after pleading guilty to abandonment of a dead body and two counts of second-degree murder. Court records reveal that Walsh told investigators he shot Drake six times before choking out his grandmother and slitting her throat three times to make sure she was dead.

Walsh also told detectives that he used a meat cleaver to lop off his grandmother’s hands, worried that his DNA might be discovered upon them.

Delgado said Reed told authorities she was not aware a double murder would occur, believing that Walsh merely intended to beat Drake up. He said, however, that Reed positioned herself in a doorway blocking a possible escape route as the couple was murdered.

Delgado said Reed and Parsons helped Walsh steal items from the home before they fled. He also said that Reed cooperated with authorities and led them to a desert area where they were able to recover the severed hands.

The plea agreement requires Judge Doug Camacho to impose a 15-year prison term during a Sept. 24 sentencing hearing for Reed. She pleaded guilty to two counts reduced to facilitation to commit murder and abandonment of a dead body.
Delgado said the plea deal includes a requirement that Reed will testify, if necessary, in further legal proceedings. Parsons still awaits trial for first degree murder, abandonment, burglary, and theft charges.
