Tournament ball booming in Kingman

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman is in the middle of a multiple month run of hosting various ball tournaments most every weekend due to recreation facility closures in California and Nevada. Tourism Services Manager Josh Noble told the Economic Development Commission Tuesday that’s helped boost local business, particularly on weekends.

Noble said Kingman started hosting tournaments that relocated from other venues in April and May. He said the Parks and Recreation Department and facilities made a good impression and organizations and managers began booking tournaments in Kingman every weekend.

The 40-year-old age division of the men and women’s senior softball world masters championships unfolds Friday through Sunday at Kingman’s Centennial and Southside Park complexes. 63 men’s teams and 22 women’s teams entered to play.

“We could see upwards of 3,000 additional people here this weekend,” Noble said. He said it’s important for the community to know that social distance and other coronavirus protection protocols are in place to help prevent spread of COVID-19.
