Kingman Festival for the Arts Packs Downtown Kingman

Sidewalk traffic near Locomotive Park fluctuated from unpassable to relatively dodgeable to even calm at various times during the 43rd Annual Kingman Festival for the Arts, also known as the Mother’s Day Festival, sponsored by the Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club, held Saturday and Sunday in Locomotive and Charles Metcalf parks.

There were 69 vendors between the two parks.

Beale Street was lined with an assortment of food and drink tents and trucks. The sidewalks almost looked like an art project from the spilled colors of shaved ice and portions of dropped food. Both vehicle and pedestrian traffic was tense at times and parking could be hectic, but the two entities seemed to get along.

The crowd seemed to be enjoying the spring weather and having a good time wandering through the park, relaxing on the grass, tasting the food, people-watching, and chatting with their friends and family.

According to Linda Owens, Chairperson for the Route 66 Rotary Club Festival of the Arts, all the vendors did extremely well and are looking forward to next year’s event. Many have already reserved spots for the 2022 festival.
