LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Mohave County sheriff’s office says poor swimming skills are a factor in a near drowning at Lake Havasu. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said authorities responded to Steamboat Cove at 5:09 p.m.

Mortensen said Good Samaritans had located the 42-year-old woman who went under the water after beginning to struggle while swimming.

“Deputies loaded the female onto their patrol boat,” Mortensen said. She was in extremely critical condition when transported to the water safety center and then to Havasu Regional Medical Center.
