MOHAVE COUNTY — The Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff has been notified of 52 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported yesterday. There are 4 new deaths.
Three of the death are from previously reported positive cases. Two are from the Kingman service area. One is 70-79 and one is 90+. The third is from the Bullhead City service area and is 50-59. The final and 4th death is one of the 52 new confirmed cases and the case was not previously reported. It is an 80-89 individual from the Bullhead City service area.
Of the 52 new confirmed cases, there are 27 new cases in the Bullhead City service area. There are 13 new cases in the Kingman service area. There are 10 new cases in the Lake Havasu City service area. There are 2 new cases in the North County service area. There 0 new case in an Undetermined area of the county.
All of the cases remain under investigation.
Of the 27 new confirmed cases in the Bullhead City area, four are 0-10; five are 11-19; four are 20-29; three are 30-39; one is 40-49; one is 50-59; five are 60-69; three are 70-79. The 27th and final Bullhead City new case is the new death mentioned above.
Of the 13 new cases in the Kingman area, one is 0-10; two are 20-29; two are 30-39; two are 40-49; one is 60-69; five are 70-79.
Of the 10 new cases in the Lake Havasu City area, one is 0-10; one is 30-39; one is 40-49; three are 50-59; two are 60-69; two are 70-79.
The final two cases are an 11-19 and a 50-59 person in the North County area.
Total positive cases: 18,646; total recovered: 11,990.
Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) has opened its COVID-19 vaccine clinic to the public― beginning with adults age 75 and older. In coordination with the Mohave County Department of Public Health, During the prior administration phases, KRMC vaccinated hospital staff (Phase 1A) and Protective Services Occupations. (Phase 1B,Category 1). Now, the hospital is transitioning to Phase 1B, Category 2, 75 Years and Older. KRMC is providing the COVID-19 vaccination BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. People ages 75 and Older can schedule an appointment by calling 928-263-3945. There is no charge for the COVID-19 vaccine. Photo ID and masks are required at time of service.
Vaccine doses delayed; bad weather elsewhere the cause
Due to the severe weather in other parts of the nation, shipments of Moderna vaccine are delayed. It remains unclear when providers will receive their allocation for this week. As a result, several providers have already or will be canceling scheduled appointments due to a lack of vaccine.
Mohave County Health Director Denise Burley says “we have worked diligently to increase the percentage of vaccine administered in our county and established protocols to ensure providers only order what can be utilized within seven days. While this is a positive change, it also presents a problem when vaccine shipments are delayed, as inventory is extremely limited and few to no appointments are available.”
The county just expanded today (February 17) for vaccination appointments to include 65 Years & Older and Educators/Child Care workers.
The county will closely monitor the situation and inform the public when changes occur.
