Judge gives meth dealer max sentence

KINGMAN – Sentence was imposed Thursday for a woman who allegedly sold methamphetamine for the head of an alleged Kingman-based Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO). Sheryl Longtin, 53, Kingman, faced four to eight years in prison under terms of a plea deal convicting her of conspiracy to commit possession of dangerous drugs for sale.

Defense attorney Anita Dale asked for the minimum sentence while assistant Arizona Attorney General Rebecca Kennelley urged the Court to send Longtin to prison for five years. Judge Billy Sipe rejected both recommendations and imposed the maximum eight-year sentence.

Judge Sipe explained his decision involved consideration beyond the ten grams of meth Longtin possessed when arrested last May. He said the defendant admitted selling ounce quantities a few times each week for alleged drug dealing kingpin Austreberto Acoltzi-Bautista.

The Judge said Longtin admitted averaging $900 to $1,000 each week in profit from her meth sales.

Sipe said investigative telephone analysis revealed 177 different drug sale communications between Longtin and Acoltzi-Bautista. He said they involved transactions from an ounce up to a half-pound of meth.

Acoltzi-Bautista, 49, remains in custody at the Adult Detention Center while awaiting trial.
