LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu City police report impairment is a suspected factor in an ongoing investigation of a fatal traffic accident. Detective Chris Angus said the near head-on two vehicle collision occurred at 6:10 a.m. Sunday on Highway 95, just north of Chenoweth Drive.
Angus said the crash occurred when a northbound Kia Niro crossed the center line, colliding with an oncoming southbound Camry. “A witness reported seeing the Kia Niro traveling northbound in the southbound lane for an extended distance,” Angus said.
The southbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours.
The driver of the Camry, Jeffrey Luna, 55, Lake Havasu, was dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia Niro, Jose Love, 42, Ingelwood, CA. was flown to a Las Vegas hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
