LAKE HAVASU CITY –  Children birth to age 18 will have a chance to catch up on childhood immunizations at three clinics scheduled in Lake Havasu City over the next several months.

More than 300 school-age children throughout Lake Havasu City have been identified by local schools as needing at least one of the series of childhood immunizations, according to First Things First La Paz/Mohave Regional Director Vijette Saari. First Things First isthe state’s early childhood agency that partners with other organizations to support the early learning and health of young children.

Saari said that the immunization clinics were planned in coordination with the Mohave County Health Department to help families catch-up after many have fallen behind as a result of the pandemic over the last year. Other immunization efforts are being planned in Kingman and Bullhead City.

The first clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Aquatic Center, 100 Park Avenue. Parents/guardians are asked to arrive no later than noon to ensure that their child is seen.  In order to ensure social distancing, only one parent/guardian is asked to accompany each child. Masks will be required for all children and parents/guardians.

Subsequent immunization clinics will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 15, and, July 31, at the Havasu Community Health Foundation’s Back to School event. All clinics will take place at the Aquatic Center.

Children with private insurance, no insurance, and coverage through the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) will all be able to receive immunizations. Families are asked to bring an insurance card, if available, and as well as any immunization records they may have. All childhood vaccines recommended by the  American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as the flu shot,  will be available at the clinics.  The Covid-19 vaccine will not be offered during these events.

The clinics are being hosted by The Arizona Partnership for Immunization, First Things First, Havasu Community Health Foundation, the Lake Havasu City Unified School District, the Greater Phoenix Urban League, Regional Center for Border Health, Health Choice, Care1st, and AHCCCS.
