Three people were killed when three vehicles collided just east of Kingman Sunday. Department of Public Officers responded at 2:48 p.m. to the accident at milepost 56.

“A taxi-cab carrying two passengers, a male and a female, was traveling in the passing lane eastbound before slowing down while trying to make a turn into the median,” said DPS spokesman Bart Graves. “The tractor-trailer driver behind them could not slow his vehicle in time and struck the cab pushing it across the median into the westbound lanes where it was struck by another vehicle.”

Graves said the driver and passengers in the cab were dead at the scene. Their names, ages and hometowns are withheld pending notification of kin.

Graves said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt and that the driver of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries.
