KINGMAN – Blocks of blue shirts might’ve caught the attention of morning Wednesday morning motorists.

It was more than 100 City of Kingman employees from multiple departments starting their day with the third of three City Manager 5K walk/runs June 23.

About 60 employees trekked through downtown as part of the venture from city hall, down, around and back. It was part of a run/walk started by city manager Ron Foggin.

“He’s very involved with the team and making sure it’s a positive atmosphere,” said Coleen Haines, City of Kingman Spokeswoman. “He concentrates on safety with all department directors and team members. He really focuses on the City of Kingman being a team-oriented place to work.”

Haines herself was still sporting her running shoes inside city hall and ready to get back to office duty.

“We see strong participation in our wide array of wellness screenings, too. For example, almost 150 team members and retirees completed their Health Risk Assessments last week,” Haines said.  “(Foggin) takes our health and wellness very seriously and schedules many different “lunch and learns” regarding men’s health, financial literacy, and even meditation for example.”

The walk/run event was started in 2020. Team members include city employees and retirees who volunteer on a regular basis.
