BULLHEAD CITY – A $1-million grant has been awarded to WestCare for helping Bullhead City area residents with substance abuse issues. 4th District Congressman Paul Gosar said the money is being provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

WestCare will receive the funding over a 3-year period to help organizations providing various substance abuse services. A portion will be used to help serve insurance-challenged clients at Hildy’s House, a 16-bed behavioral health residential treatment facility.

“I am pleased to announce that WestCare Arizona, which operates Hildy’s House and other programs in Bullhead City, will receive this critical funding to continue the vital role in caring for people with drug addiction and other substance abuse problems in a dignified, private and successful way,” Gosar said in a news release. “This funding ensures that Hildy’s House will continue to offer hope to many more struggling with addiction and want to recover.”

WestCare Vice President Cheryl Debatt said the money will be put to good use. “I’d like to thank Congressman Gosar and his staff for visiting Hildy’s House last month and meeting with the women who are working hard to change and better their lives by dealing with their substance abuse issues,” she said.
