MOHAVE COUNTY – Separate Saturday deaths at Lake Havasu and the Colorado River are under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office (SBCSO). An agency news release indicated that deputies responded to a reported drowning at Copper Canyon at Lake Havasu at 3:05 p.m.
“It was discovered that the victim, Kason Adams, jumped into the water from a large rock formation and never resurfaced,” the release stated. It said a Good Samaritan was able to retrieve the 19-year-old from Temecula, California from the water and that CPR effort was initiated before deputies arrived to perform transport to the Contact Point Water Safety Center.
The Sheriff’s office said resuscitation efforts failed and Adams was declared dead.
SBCSO deputies responded at 11:09 a.m. Saturday to a report of a body floating in the Colorado River south of the Avi casino
“Deputies located an unidentified white male floating face down in the river, along the California shore,” the news release said. The subject was placed in a patrol boat and transported to the Needles Marina where he was pronounced dead.
Positive identification is pending.
“The male was wearing black jeans, tennis shoes, no shirt and gloves,” the release said. “The male had ‘SICKBOI’ tattooed on his stomach, along with other tattoos on his arms and back.”
Anyone with information about the river incident is asked to contact Deputy F. Weinald or Deputy S. Cook at the Colorado River substation in Needles at 760-326-9200.
