Impairment is suspected in a Monday traffic accident in which a pickup truck crashed in front of the Del Taco and Panda Express eateries on the east side of Kingman’s busiest thoroughfare. Police Chief Rusty Cooper said officers responded to 3300 Stockton Hill Road at about 6:15 p.m.
“Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle operating erratically before crossing lanes of traffic, going off of the roadway before crashing into the base of a large sign,” Cooper said. “The vehicle destroyed a stop sign, a utility box and a fire hydrant before crashing and coming to a stop at the base of the large sign.”
Cooper said the unidentified 60-year-old male who was driving the truck was breathing though unconscious when pulled from the vehicle. He was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
Traffic was restricted for about 1 hour as officers worked the accident scene.
