KINGMAN – In the lush landscape of Valle Vista lives a surprising plant: wine grapes. The desert environment seems too hostile a place for them to grow, but at Stetson Winery and Event Center, they thrive. According to the Winery’s website, their soil is ideal for cultivating a vineyard, and that quality shines through in their wines.
Since opening in November 2012, Stetson Winery has been able to put on an annual grape stomp event; this summer, they celebrated their 7th Stomp!
The Stomp took place on August 21st and 22nd, from 12 pm to 6 pm on both days at the Winery’s Event Center, located at 10965 Moonscape Way. Admission was free and costumes inspired by I Love Lucy were encouraged.
The Stomp kicked off on Saturday morning with a parade of Corvettes spanning several generations of the iconic car. The parade ended at the Winery, where guests were invited to peruse and admire the immaculately cared for vehicles. The introduction of these beautiful machines was followed by a recognition ceremony to applaud the county officials who helped make the newly paved Brooks Road possible. Then the Stomp began!
Participants were able to step into a trough of fresh grapes, refreshing fruit squishing between their toes. They then placed their juice-slicked feet onto commemorative sun-dried t-shirts. Guests were also treated to live music performed by Goldrush (Saturday) and The Aces (Sunday) and a barbeque feast prepared by Hooch’s Kingman Grill. A shuttle was also available to transport guests between Stetson Winery and the two neighboring wineries: Cella Winery and Little Old Wine Drinkers Winery. All three wineries also provided dry camping reservations to allow guests a chance to truly soak in the event.
The entire weekend was saturated in a warm and inviting atmosphere as guests relaxed and enjoyed glasses of wine out on the pavilion. Breathtaking landscapes and views of the valley and the Peacock, Long, and Music Mountain ranges wowed guests and provided the perfect environment to enjoy Stetson’s stunning wine selection.
If you didn’t get a chance to enjoy this year’s Grape Stomp, don’t fret! Stetson’s Event Center can host an array of events, from weddings to birthdays to corporate parties, and their wines are available for purchase all year long.

The winery isn’t in Valle Vista. Near, yes but not in. And lush should only be applied to some residents, not the area in general.
