BULLHEAD CITY – On Sept.14, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Bullhead City Fire Department crews responded to a reported structure fire on the 1800 block of El Monte Dr. Engine 761’s crew arrived first on the scene, reporting heavy black smoke and fire coming from a single wide mobile home. Quickly confirming that all of the occupants had safely evacuated the home, the crew began an aggressive fire attack. Battalion Chief Queen arrived on the scene assuming command, directing all of the other incoming units. Crews were able to swiftly extinguish the fire, transitioning into the salvage and overhaul process.
The Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupants, as the home was deemed uninhabitable. No injuries were reported during the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
BCFD would like to remind citizens to be aware of their home’s electrical amperage. Amperage is a measurement of the volume of electricity flowing through wires, and this measurement can vary in old homes that have not been updated. New homes typically have between 100-200 amps. It is very easy to overload the system simply by plugging in extra electronic items such as cellphones and laptops. BCFD recommends checking with a certified electrician before adding any upgrades to your home. Overloading your home’s electrical capacity should never occur.
