Registered sex offender charged with impregnating teen

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu city man is accused of impregnating a teenager who bore their child several years ago. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reports Tuesday’s arrest of Terry Lee Fichtelman, 63, for sexual conduct with a minor.

MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said Fichtelman is a registered sex offender. Mortensen said that the Arizona Department of Child Services is also involved in the case investigation. She said she does not know what precipitated the probe.

“A paternity test showed Fichtelman to be the father of a three-year-old child that had been conceived when the mother was approximately 14-years-old,” Mortensen said. “Fichtelman denied the allegations, even after being confronted with the paternity test.”

Mortensen said Fichtelman and the teen inhabited separate residences on the same property in the 4000 block of E. Blue Canyon Rd. The child has been placed in state care and custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
