MOHAVE COUNTY – Firefighters were busy over the weekend in northwest Arizona. They made progress battling wildfires north of Kingman and south of Lake Havasu City.
The largest of the blazes, the lightning ignited Planet Ranch Fire, was 30% contained at 1,260 acres on the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge.
Bureau of Land Management Fire information officer Dolores Garcia said another lightning cause fire blackened about 600 acres between Grand Canyon West and Meadview. She said crews have been able to check spread of the Water Springs Fire.
Garcia said another fire burned west of Dolan Springs and west of U.S. 93. She said an RV fire from the highway spread to the wild land and was controlled at 15 acres.
