KINGMAN – The Bureau of Land Management reports substantial progress in corralling a wildfire in the Cerbat Mountains about six miles north of Kingman. The White Fire started Saturday and grew to 377 acres by Monday.
Fire information officer Jessica Richardson said 118 ground personnel and air support held the fire at 377 acres and achieved 80% containment Monday. She said no structures were lost and no injuries were reported.
Residents of a small development known as Quail Crest had been on “ready” status but the evacuation standby was lifted.
“Fire crews will continue to secure the fire’s perimeter by mopping up hot spots with ground crews and support from helicopter bucket dumps,” Richardson said. “Fire related road closures in the area have been lifted and barricades have been removed.”
Richardson said the fire was “human-caused” but officials remain uncertain how the fire was ignited.
